Definition of Academic Integrity

Academic integrity means completing one’s work honestly without cheating, manipulation, or forgery, while maintaining scholarly honesty in research, writing, and assessment. It covers all practices within virtual classrooms, online exams, projects, assignments, and forums.

Violations of Academic Integrity

The following acts are prohibited in the e-learning environment:

  1. Electronic Cheating:
    • Using unauthorized aids or software during exams or assignments.
    • Sharing answers or files between trainees without authorization.
  2. Plagiarism:
    • Copying ideas or text without proper citation.
    • Submitting work produced by others as one’s own.
  3. Impersonation:
    • Sitting an exam or accessing the system on behalf of someone else.
    • Sharing personal login credentials with others.
  4. Unauthorized Collaboration: Working jointly on individual tasks without permission.
  5. Fabrication or Falsification:
    • Altering data, results, or reports without justification.
    • Forging official or academic documents.
  6. Facilitating Cheating: Assisting another trainee to cheat or enabling cheating.

Consequences of Violations

Depending on type and severity, consequences may include:

  1. Notice or written warning for minor violations.
  2. Cancellation or deduction of grades in an assignment or exam.
  3. Invalidation of the course or program for repeated violations.
  4. Temporary or permanent dismissal in cases of deliberate cheating or impersonation.
  5. Reporting to competent authorities in cases of legal breaches or official forgery.

All cases and actions are documented in line with regulations governing education and training in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Anti-Cheating & Anti-Impersonation Measures

  • Identity verification at login (national ID or two-factor authentication).
  • Proctoring of sessions and exams using cameras or smart monitoring when needed.
  • Use of plagiarism and text-similarity detection systems.
  • Timestamped and verifiable review of submitted work.
  • Continuous awareness of academic integrity and digital ethics.

Acknowledgment

Accessing the LMS or training platform constitutes explicit acceptance of this policy and full responsibility for any violation.

+ Privacy & Data Governance Policy for E-Learning & Training

The Swiss Academy safeguards the privacy of users of its e-learning and e-training services and applies high standards of security and transparency in collecting, storing, processing, and using personal data, in accordance with applicable KSA regulations—particularly the Personal Data Protection Law—and with guidance from SDAIA and the National e-Learning Center.

Scope

This policy applies to all users of the Academy’s electronic platforms, including learners/trainees, faculty, staff/administrators, and visitors.

Types of Data Collected

  1. Personal data: name, national ID, email, mobile number, address, gender, date of birth.
  2. Academic/training data: enrolled programs, grades, attendance, assessments, assignments, performance records.
  3. Usage data: login logs, IP addresses, device/browser type, session duration.

Collection Methods & Purposes

Data are collected via self-registration, support teams, or integrations with government systems (e.g., National Access). Purposes include enabling access, account management, content personalization, service improvement, communications, accreditation/quality requirements, and legal reporting.

Retention & Destruction

  • Data are retained only for the service period or as required by academic/legal obligations.
  • When no longer needed, data are securely destroyed and cannot be reconstructed.
  • Destruction follows approved technical controls (SDAIA / cybersecurity authority).

Protection

  • Encryption (SSL/TLS).

Sharing & Disclosure

  • Online attendance is equivalent to traditional attendance for academic value and credited hours.
  • Attendance is counted through participation in live classes, LMS engagement, and completion of planned activities.

Types of Attendance

  1. Synchronous: via live virtual classes; attendance logged automatically.
  2. Asynchronous: via recorded lessons, digital content, and LMS activities; counted via time and engagement metrics.
  3. Blended: combination of virtual and in-person; virtual hours follow the same ratios as fully online programs.

Minimum Requirement

  • At least 75% of total program/course hours must be attended.
  • For non-synchronous programs, at least 25% of hours are delivered live to ensure direct interaction.
  • Absence above 25% may trigger disciplinary action or denial of completion per regulations.
